Ahadith; How to Attempt Component 1 (Question 1) of Paper 2

·         This is component 1 of Paper 2.

·         There are twenty (20) passages of Hadith that are a part of this syllabus.

·         Four Ahadith will be given in the examination.

·         The students have to do TWO out of FOUR.

·         The answer is to be given in two parts: (a) and (b)

·         These twenty Ahadith are divided into two types of conduct:

o   Individual conduct. It means that the Hadith will talk about how an individual should live and behave in his personal life for example, he should perform five times prayers.

o   Life in Community includes Ahadith that teach how a Muslim should live and behave in the community. For example, helping their neighbors.

o   However, it is important to remember that some Ahadith are applicable both to individual conduct as well as the life in community.

·      While explaining all twenty Ahadith, I will provide on top of every Hadith what group it belongs to.

·         In (a) part of Hadith, the students have to explain how the Hadith is connected to Islamic faith and belief. To support their arguments, they should give references from Quran or authentic Hadith.

·         In part (b), the students should say how the Hadith is applicable in their lives; individually or in community or both.

·         In the examination paper, two pages will be provided.

·         If you are lucky, you may get a few lines after the question.

·         You should complete Hadith 1, (a) and (b) on one page and Hadith 2, (a) and (b) on the next page.

·         On one page there are 26 lines. It means that for part (a) you have 13 lines and for part (b), you have 13 lines.

·         You may or may not get an extra sheet, depending on the policy of the exam. However, even if you get an extra sheet, examiners will not like it as they have to take extra botheration to find your answer at an improper place.

·         These are the questions that give you almost full marks; 8 out of 8! if you follow these instructions.
